Guidelines:

We want to encourage everyone who has been changed by Jesus in their lives to tell us about what He has done for them.  We encourage you to tell a story in your own style and language, based on your personal experiences. At the same time, we would encourage you to focus on the purpose of telling that story - communicating Jesus to a lost world, and would request that you adhere to the following guidelines.

1.    Message and Content:  Please tell a story that is consistent with the message of Christ and the salvation He offers through faith in Him.  It should focus on how Jesus has changed your life, both at the point you believed, and as you have grown as a Christian.  If you have questions about the message of Christ, please check out our Jesus page, or e-mail us.  We would love to talk to you.

2.    Politics: We are determinedly apolitical.  Our core purpose is the message of Jesus.  We believe that ultimately any true change for good in people comes through individual change through Christ's working in their lives, and that our mission as followers of Jesus is to present that message. This does not mean that we do not believe that there are things that are absolutely right or absolutely wrong, or that there is no absolute truth.  It simply means that the purpose of this site is to present the one thing we believe brings people to discover what those things are.  So - please do not use your story to encourage political change or make political statements.  

3.    Men:  We are followers of Jesus, not followers of men.  You may certainly talk about how God has used people in your life to help you grow as a follower of Jesus.  However, we would request that you focus on glorifying Jesus and His Father in heaven.

4.    Anonymity:  Barring significant extenuating circumstances, we will not publish anonymous stories.  We regret that this is the case, but there are several reasons for this.  First, we believe that it is the testimony of individuals that carries the power of Jesus' message.  Second, one core goal of CrossPurposes is to encourage those who follow Christ to take personal responsibility for the mission He has given us and to stand for Him as individuals.  Please consider and pray about the cost of posting your story before you send it to us.  

If you have a compelling reason for anonymity, for instance if telling your story would put others besides yourself in danger, we will be happy to talk to you about it, and may in rare circumstances grant such requests.  

5.    Length:  Take the space you need, but understand that sometimes ideas are best communicated in smaller packages.  We recommend 1000 to 1500 words as a good target length to both communicate your story in depth without losing its impact.
